What to Expect

We specialize in working with all ages. New born through the life-span. For young children much of the work will use play therapy techniques. In offices where play interventions are used, you will see a doll house and sand tray as well as other therapeutic toys. These are used during sessions to provide children opportunity to express themselves using their own language - play. You will also frequently see art supplies and activities.

We also have experience in supporting teens, adults and families who are healing from trauma and assisting foster and adoptive families. We utilize a trauma informed and attachment based approach in our therapeutic work.

Depending on needs of your family, child and your child’s age, we may recommend individual therapy sessions or family therapy. As a parent or caregiver, you know your child better than anyone else and your involvement in their care is vital. Your involvement may look different depending on the recommendations made.

your first visit

Your first visit will be focused on getting to know each other and gathering information about your concern and the impact it may be having. Together we will explore your individual and social history to get a wide picture of your concerns. We will work together to develop a client specific treatment plan and recommendations will be made about frequency of sessions. Young children are typically recommended to start with weekly sessions.

Cost of services

Different providers can accept different insurances. Please confirm your provider is a network provider with your plan by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. We will not verify your insurance for you.

We currently accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield (Wellmark and Anthem), United HealthCare, UMR, HealthPartners, MidlandsChoice and some TriCare plans. Out of pocket costs for services is between $175 - $185. If you choose to use insurance, you may be responsible for a co-pay, co-insurance, deductible or other costs associated with your health insurance. Please contact your insurance carrier about what to expect about your plan. Questions that are helpful to ask your carrier include:

  • Is (provider name) an in-network provider for my plan?

  • Do I have any out of pocket expenses for mental health care? If so, how much can I expect to pay every session? (This is where copay/co-insurance/deductible/etc will be discussed)

  • Do I have any session limitations? (some carriers have a certain number of sessions they will cover in a specific time period)

  • Is a prior authorization needed? (If this is the case please let us know prior to first session so we may obtain this authorization.)

  • Is telehealth a covered service under my plan? (not all plans are covering this service).

    • If it is, do they require a specific service/platform? Some require Doctors on Demand and we are not affiliated with them.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate”, or GFE, explaining how much your medical care will cost under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. • related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item.

  • You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good FaithEstimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
